Where each one is better.
Where Lukittu is better
- Cheaper: Pro is €2.90 a month, SunLicense Lite is $5.
- Bigger paid limits for products and people: 50 products and 20 team members on Pro, against 5 products and 3 seats on Lite.
- Three team members on the free tier; SunLicense Free has one seat.
- A Java Classloader that sends your plugin's classes encrypted from their server. SunLicense has nothing like it.
- Open source under AGPL-3.0, so you can read every line.
Where SunLicense is better
- Twelve store integrations, including Tebex, Gumroad, Payhip, Lemon Squeezy and WooCommerce, next to BuiltByBit and Voxel Shop.
- Signed offline license files on every plan, so a plugin keeps working when our servers can't be reached. Lukittu's docs don't mention offline licenses.
- 2,500 licenses on Lite, five times Lukittu Pro's 500.
- A customer portal where your buyers see their licenses and free a machine themselves.
- Official SDKs in 7 languages, a CLI, and MCP for AI agents on every plan.
Moving from Lukittu.
- 1Export your licenses and customers from Lukittu as CSV or JSON. Its API lists both.
- 2In SunLicense, open Tasks → Start a task → Import from another license system, choose Lukittu and upload up to 5 files.
- 3We import your products, customers and licenses, keeping your license keys where we can, and email you what came over.
- 4Swap Lukittu's check for the SunLicense Java SDK in your next release. The prompt at sunlicense.com/prompt can do it for you.
Questions, answered.
Is SunLicense cheaper than Lukittu?
No. Lukittu Pro is €2.90 a month (€32 a year); SunLicense Lite is $5 a month ($50 a year) and Standard $20. Both free tiers cover 3 products and 100 licenses. SunLicense Lite allows 2,500 licenses where Lukittu Pro allows 500, and Lukittu Pro allows 50 products where Lite allows 5.
Can I keep my license keys when I move from Lukittu?
We keep your keys where we can, so buyers don't need new ones. Upload your Lukittu export under Tasks → Import from another license system; we do the import and email you what came over. Your buyers aren't emailed about it.
Do I need to change my plugin's code?
Yes, the license check changes from Lukittu's API to SunLicense's. The Java SDK and the Paper plugin template handle every answer for you, and the prompt at sunlicense.com/prompt lets a coding agent make the change and test it.
Does SunLicense work with BuiltByBit and Polymart (Voxel Shop)?
Yes. On both stores SunLicense writes each buyer's key into the file they download, and on Voxel Shop a refund revokes the key automatically. Tebex, Gumroad, Payhip, Lemon Squeezy, Stripe and others are connected the same way, on every plan.
